Day Three: Thor, Smoking, Drinking and Nudity
So for our last day in Oslo...my clothes were still wet from washing them the night before, so Jason and I went to the hotel breakfast with me in jeans, a white robe and slippers. The food was good, we had waffles and sausage and potatoes and Jason tried coffee, black at first, then with cream, then with sugar then with more sugar...he never found a point in which he liked it. We went back to the room and I showered and used the hairdryer to dry my clothes. We decided to go to the Kon Tiki Museum. We walked for over an hour to get to the museum, we passed some swans that walked and swam in a line, passed sheep and cows and walked through a royal park.
The museum was about a guy who didn't know anything about sailing, was afraid of the water and couldn't swim, but made a boat and sailed across the ocean successfully, even though everyone thought he was going to die, his name was Thor and he got literally 5 other random guys to go on his raft across the ocean to prove he could do it. Afterwards, he decided to do it again on a reed boat, the first time the boat sank, so he tried it again and sailed across the ocean again...with randos again.
Jason and I took electric scooter back to the main part of town, and FINALLY found a clothing store open (they had been closed since we got here) and bought shirts, socks and underwear and shorts...so I don't have to sleep in my jeans and I have clean underwear again! Afterwards, we went to a restaurant... I ordered grilled reindeer and Jason ordered pizza. The reindeer kind of tasted like a weird steak...it was good, similar to beef, but not quite.
After eating we went and got a dessert...everywhere you look people are eating ice cream bars on a stick, so Jason and I decided to have one as well...we got our ice cream bars (mine was the salted caramel) and we sat and people watched for a bit. Jason commented that the women were wearing bras today (Monday), but they hadn't all weekend...the women were still mostly wearing a white t-shirt, dress and converse (chuck t's) or another white tennis shoe...so business attire in Oslo is like weekend wear, but with a bra...lol...After people watching we walked all over and ended up in the more residential part of Oslo...the streets were cool and I had Jason take my picture.
After walking all over the place, we came across the Kazakhstan embassy and I took Jason's photo there...actually, while on our one plus hour walk, we realized that embassies are just a diplomats house with offices...on our hour long walk we passed a ton of big but normal houses that were embassies for other countries...after the Kazakhstan embassy (literally just an apartment on a back street), we found a cool tornado looking statue and I took Jason's photo there too...as we continued to walk around we passed a plaza that had some naked lady statues that had the boobs and crotch painted...and then a big photo of some local female celebrity topless...it encapsulated the overall feeling of Oslo, which we decided was smoking (tons of people are smoking everywhere), drinking and nudity...the plaza had all three everywhere...lol Eventually we made it back to the hotel with our new, clean cloths...our luggage is still missing...and decided to get an early dinner because we have an early day tomorrow...we went to a delicatessen and I had something similar to a gyro and Jason had fries...after dinner we wandered around some more, then came back to the room to figure out how we were going to get all our stuff into the single backpack that I had as a carry-on from our flights from the USA...
Jason II's Version:
We woke up on time today and went down to the breakfast area and had waffles and other things after that we walked to a museum that had a story about a crazy guy and was around there for a minute then used the scooters to go back in the city more and went to h&m to get underwear and socks for the rest of the trip. After this we went to a restaurant and got rain deer and pizza, then went shopping for souvenirs for people then I got a flag and then we walked in one direction for a while then did the same thing again but north. After walking around we came back to the hotel and sat around for a minute then got some dinner at a regular restaurant came back and went to sleep and still don't have our stuff so that great
